SANDERS G. MERCER, SR. SCHOLARSHIP
Lion Sanders G. Mercer, Sr.
1910-1998
Each year the Sandersville Lions Club gives two $500.00 scholarships in memory of Lion Sanders G. Mercer, Sr. to deserving seniors at Brentwood School and Washington County High School.
Lion Mercer jointed the Talbotton, Georgia, Lions Club in February 1935, transferred to the Sandersville Lions Club in February, 1936 where he remained a member until his death in June, 1998. He was a Lion for 63 years.

VISITATION PROGRAM
Special Projects Chairman Howard Sheppard is the father of two of the Sandersville Lions Clubs special projects.
The first is the Sandersville Lions Foundation, Incorporated.
This Foundation is a means of providing tax-deductible gifts to Lions Clubs International Foundation. The Sandersville Lions Foundation committee members were Howard Sheppard, Thomas Hutcheson, Clyde Wright, and Sandy Mercer.
The second is the weekly visitation program.
Each week, a member of the Sandersville Lions Club visits a person who is a shut-in at one of the local nursing homes, the extended care facility at the local hospital or at home. The member carries a small devotional, book or a small vase of flowers as a gift from the club to let them know the Lions Club is thinking about them.
